What We Do

When we put together an itinerary, we pride ourselves not only on our first-hand knowledge of the destinations, but also our extensive, tried-and-tested network of tour operators, guides, accommodations and local contacts. We work with you on every last detail and as such, we never do the same trip twice. When you are abroad, we work tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure that everything goes exactly to plan. We are there for you from the moment you lug the suitcase out of the closet to when you walk back through your front door safe and sound.

Should you spend a night in the Atlas Mountains or just go for the day? How do you book a government helicopter in Vietnam? How does one procure a Santa suit for Christmas in the Mara? Need your hair done in St. Petersburg? These are the details–large and small–that we are here to organize so the only surprises one experiences are the happy ones. But does it cost more to travel with us? Most likely, it does not!! Read more about some commonly held misconceptions in our F.A.Q. section

Why I Started A.K. Taylor

Ever since I was a little girl helping my parents guide safaris in Kenya, I have spent my life exploring the peoples, places, animals, and wonders of the globe. My business is a way of sharing these experiences which have given such joy and purpose to my life. Clearly, there’s something in the blood as my daughters carry on the third generation in the travel industry. Farley is the Vice President of A.K. Taylor and Marett is a Vice President at my brother’s company, Abercrombie & Kent with whom we collaborate often.

Unlike Abercrombie & Kent, which my parents founded in the 1960s, and which went on to become one of the largest luxury travel operators in the world, I chose to branch off and found my own boutique agency in 1988. I wanted to stay small, hands-on, and 100% independent. I have never advertised my company. My business is word-of-mouth only and 30 years on, I am happy to say we organize trips around the globe while delivering the same intimate and personal service as I did on my first safari.
